Engine
The 2.2L engine, the F22B, was used only in the domestic market. The initial Xi version received a variant with 130 hp at 5,300 rpm and 188 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The Si version was equipped with a DOCH motor with an output of 160 hp and 215 Nm at 6,500 and 6,000 rpm, respectively.
Performance
The weakest Prelude can reach 200 km/h and accelerate to 100 km/h in just over 9 seconds. Stronger cars can reach almost 230 km/h, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes about 7 seconds. Average fuel consumption, according to the manufacturer, is about 8 liters per 100 km in the mixed cycle.
Running gear
The car has both independent double wishbone suspensions. The Type S and Type SH versions have a revised camber at the front. In addition, the improved versions are equipped with the 4WS system, which provides rear-wheel steering.

It was produced from 1996 to 2001. The h22a engine power was raised to 220 hp for the first time in this body.
Service
The engines are reliable. Their service life is 200-300 thousand km and more. Due to high oil consumption, its level should be regularly checked.
